To wake up

Different Realities

There is something to wake up to

a new worldview,

a new experience of life and of yourself.

Have you ever had a dream that felt completely real, even after you woke up? Most of us have. I remember it as something quite special, especially that moment just after waking up, when you slowly begin to realize that it was just a dream.

It’s as if one reality is replaced by another.

This is a powerful image of what it means to open your Heart and begin experiencing life through the Heart-Life experience. Opening your Heart is, among other things, like discovering that part of the worldview you’ve held until now has merely been a dream—one you were convinced was reality.

This dream is something most people live under. Describing a reality that you don’t yet experience—or only partially sense—is a therefore challenge.

In truth, only the Heart can show you that your way of experiencinglife through the Ego-Life experience, and the way you live it, is like a dream that you have mistaken for reality.

The Ego Makes Dreams Feel Real

There’s a part of you that’s an expert at making dreams appear real. That part is your Ego. The Ego specializes in turning dreams into 'reality'—but in a way where it convinces you that the dream is reality.

The Ego can keep you from waking up. Many people never truly awaken during their lifetime—they live inside a dream, which may even include ideas about the Heart, higher states of consciousness, and spiritual insights.

The Ego turns dreams into reality by convincing you the dream is the reality.

Losing the Dream

Waking up to the Heart is like waking up to reality—or more precisely, to a higher reality. However, the more attached you are to your Ego-dream, the more “dangerous” it feels to wake up. Because as you awaken, you lose the dream—and losing something that feels safe isn’t always easy.

That’s why the Ego fears awakening.

It knows that if you wake up, it will cease to exist. And it’s right. So every person, while longing to wake up, also resists it.

This means that waking up is about daring to lose—your dream.

Do You Dare to Wake Up?

The Heart is vast, and when it opens to you, it only partly opens. That means that you only wake up from part of your dream. Even if you feel connected to your Heart, there are still many dreams you can awaken from.

But while you’re dreaming, you don’t know it. While dreaming, you believe the dream is reality.

I could ask you if you’re aware that your current way of seeing and experiencing life is, to some extent, illusory—if you’re aware that you’re dreaming, right now. But of course, you’d say no. It’s like asking someone who’s asleep if they know they’re dreaming. They don’t—unless they wake up.

So a question is: what good does it do to know you’re dreaming, if no one helps you to wake up?

Realizing the illusion in your worldview can be deeply unsettling—unless you also begin to glimpse a higher reality.

With few exceptions, we are all living a dream right now. And it’s my hope that you’ll one day dare to lose your dream—that you’ll dare to wake up from it. It’s a challenge you might as well get used to. I myself practice waking up constantly, and I know how frightening it can be—especially in that moment when you’re just beginning to wake up, just beginning to lose your dream, but haven’t yet seen the other reality. That’s the hardest part.

But I also know how truly wonderful it is to be fully awake. In that state, you don’t feel unsafe. You don’t feel like you’ve lost anything.

To dare to lose your dream is truly the first step toward a greater reality.

Only reality can reveal your dream as the illusion it is. And reality doesn’t come in words— it comes in experience.
